Pronunciation I and II
The pronunciation course emphasizes the rhythm and intonation of the English language so as to maximize oral production as well as listening comprehension.
Both courses are offered in intensive schedules because what is most important is the student's participation in the class activities.
Each course lasts 18 days, the same as any other intensive course. Any student who has approved an intermediate 4 or higher is able to take this course. They will be able to take it simultaneously with their regular courses if they wish.
Conversation Club
This course allows people with a certain proficiency of English to speak and improve their conversational fluency. These meetings are guided by a facilitator once a week and cover many interesting and varied topics. This level is offered once a week for a month and the minimum required level is an Intermediate 8.
Practice Makes Perfect
Several facilitators, who motivate the students to develop different case scenarios with the purpose of practicing and perfecting their language skills, direct this program. This all-day program takes place in different areas of CEVAZ, usually over a weekend, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program includes lunch, snacks, souvenirs and continual guidance from the teaching staff.
American Short Stories
Based on North American literature, students read a selection of stories with different themes and styles written by well-known North American authors. This course allows students to improve their reading skills as well as conversational skills with a good backup in grammar and vocabulary building.
Summer Courses
This is an excellent alternative for children 6 to 12 years old during the vacation period. (July - August - September). This program is offered concurrently with the regular children's courses and focuses on fun and varied ways of introducing children to English. Field trips to local places of interest are also offered. Each session (two in total) lasts for a month. They're offered in two separate schedules: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 m. and 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Giant Steps Program
CEVAZ has developed a pioneer program in the state of Zulia, which offers English instruction to children in elementary schools from first to sixth grade. The students receive 4 hours of class per week in the basic language skills: Listening comprehension, speaking skills, reading and writing, using the teaching method developed by this BI-national center. The instructors are duly certified by CEVAZ, after completing the training program. They prepare and proctor the evaluations at approximately the same time the schools have their regular evaluations.
